Key Responsibilities

The VP of Inventory Management is a strategic purchasing, inventory management, sourcing, and procurement leader, ensuring key objectives are met to support Global Industrial’s strategy and business plans.
This role will be an advisor and a confidant to the C -Suite and other business leaders. You will provide insights into what is going on in the business, make suggestions for improvement to the financial results and operations of the company and provide visibility as to where the business is headed.
As our leader in purchasing you will create and spearhead inventory strategies to achieve optimal customer fill rate with minimal inventory. These strategies should assist you with, predicting revenue gaps as well as forecasting future inventory gaps.
Job Description:
•    Oversee Procurement teams in planning, vendor management, achieving quality specifications, product availability, product quality, costing, vendor negotiations, contract tendering, innovation & emerging trends, financial analysis, reporting and meeting procurement and divisional objectives.
•    Identify global sourcing opportunities to drive innovation and ensure continued evolution for Global Industrial.
•    Ongoing communication and review with key business stakeholders (Supply Chain, Product Management) to address bottlenecks, improve processes, and collaborate to deliver improved performance metrics.
•    Implement an S&OP or SIOP program to gain monthly consensus forecasting of demand and inventory to customer needs and budget.
•    Partner with marketing and product management to reduce overstock through returns to vendor, promotions, clearance, liquidation, donation, etc.
•    Drive organizational change and learning by embracing new, flexible, and agile approaches to improve business performance and efficiency; develop effective change management strategies to ensure success
•    Develop and maintain annual department operating budget that is represented in forecasted vs. actuals and aligned to the business.
•    Develop high value vendor base partnerships.
•    Develop and execute strategy to sell procurement functions to other business leaders, demonstrated through success rate in implementing purchasing functions into the department.
•    Develop and monitor metrics, processes and procedures to measure vendor performance delivery, service, quality and pricing. Deploying new technology to streamline the business operations.

Competencies and skills

•    Candidate will have 10+ years’ experience with Distribution, Supply Chain & logistics and knowledge of import products, long lead times and private label products.
•    Managing multiple teams with and multiple types of buying organizations; 5+ years people leadership
•    Leading expansive product offerings across multiple Distribution Centers
o    Familiar with system-based forecasting and replenishment; i.e., Blue Ridge, E3, JDA, Oracle, SAP, or Relex
•    Ability to report on key purchasing metrics with clarity, good visualization, and savvy to present to senior executives.
•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to forecast stock gaps.
•    ABC analysis and service level/safety stock targets
•    SKU optimization/network analysis of items
•    Hub-spoke or Feeder Distribution Center models
