Key Responsibilities

Global Industrial is seeking an Inventory Manager reporting directly to the Manager of Inventory Control and Quality Assurance. This position must be experienced in leading a Matrix environment in a high volume, multi-shift distribution center. You will have the ability to utilize your extensive and proven interpersonal, employee development, and team building skills. Critical success factors in this position are the ability to work and build coalitions within the distribution network at all levels creating value and buy-in. This position will provide leadership / mentoring / training to all levels and functions of the distribution network on the use and practice of Lean methodology and tools within the company’s various Distribution Centers. This position will help deliver significant and quantifiable process improvement and financial benefit across the network focusing on four key areas:
•    Profiling & Slotting of Inventory
Identify inventory optimization strategies within the distribution centers to eliminate waste, improve productivity, and reduce errors. Work directly with site Supervisors and Managers to implement and carry out established storage strategies.
•    Analyze Inventory Key Performance Indicators
Champion the effort to optimize inbound / outbound process within the Warehouse Operation to improve inventory accuracy and consistency throughout the Global Industrial network. Use analytical skills and abilities to run reports on a daily basis to build out inventory trends to draw conclusions on root case. Use Lean methodology to develop corrective countermeasures and action plan that calibrates with functional leaders in the DC network.
•    Review New Stock Requisitions
Partner with Product Management, Safety, Inventory and, Operations departments to determine strategy on stocking new merchandise within our distribution network. Evaluate storage proposal based on material qualifications and provide recommendations to a cross functional leadership team.
Responsibilities Cont. :
•    Product and Vendor Compliance 
Collaborator with functional leaders and DC Management staff to evaluate merchandise stocked within the Distribution Centers. Ensure material handling techniques, product configuration, specifically unit of measure, are both physically and systemically up to standard. Coordinate with Product Management and Purchasing Departments to review results of observations. Facilitate an improvement and sustainment project plan for multiple distribution sites partnering with leaders in the DC network. Use Lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies to drive company growth and changes.

Competencies and skills

•    Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive results.
•    Must have experience in implementing Lean initiatives within a distribution environment
•    Must have experience in leading Kaizen events
•    Ability to travel occasionally to other Distribution Centers
•    Bachelor's degree. In business, management, logistics, material management or a related field of study highly preferred
•    Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must.
•    Proven training and employee development skills with a strong emphasis on team building
•    Strong influencing skills, with proven ability in coaching and inspiring others
•    Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, presentation, and project management skills
