Key Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

As a key member of the leadership team, the Senior Vice President, Operations will oversee the Distribution Center Network, Operational Excellence, Facilities, Maintenance, Purchasing and Inventory Control, Customer Service, and Transportation.

 

•    Strategically plan and execute to increase profitability, productivity, and efficiency while providing world class service to our customers.  Work internally across departments to determine business requirements and develop solutions.
•    Oversee team that manages multiple distribution centers across the United States and Canada.  Maximize throughput and efficiency for receiving, order fulfillment and returns processing. Identify key productivity metrics and execute to achieve them. Create safety culture and maintain high levels of safety.
•    Form a cohesive team to manage inventory and achieve high service levels while maximizing turns and ROI.  Coordinate interaction and data exchange between sales, marketing, product teams and forecasting/re-order buying group.  Map and manage to most efficient stocking scenarios by product type, velocity, seasonality and cost of order.
•    Manage vendors, identifying and negotiating with vendors that provide services to help achieve goals. Develop and enforce vendor compliance programs to assure dependability and the promise to the customer.
•    Oversee negotiation and management of inbound and outbound small parcel, truck and ocean freight vendors.  Utilize best practices and technology to reduce cost and lower delivery time.  Create near real-time communication between carriers and business so that accurate, up-to-date shipment status is available for customer support and business needs.
•    Manage order flow and after-sales support.   Review and implement policies as necessary to maximize customer satisfaction and lower overall costs. Update processes or technology as necessary.
•    Interact with all departments to understand and document business requirements.  Work closely with leaders within Information Technology to outline and specify business needs, required software development or 3rd party software acquisition.  Co-lead implementation of new processes and technologies with IT.
•    Project-manage high potential initiatives by organizing teams and providing oversight to hit benchmarks.  Continually review process improvement measures and present recommendations.

 

DESIRED OUTCOMES.


•    Improvements in a number of operating metrics across the functional responsibilities covered by the role, including: greater forecast accuracy; fewer shipments from wrong warehouses; improved inventory turns; more orders shipped same day; lower customer service calls, etc.
•    The leader will have demonstrated leadership, collegiality, and a motivational attitude and built relationships and trust with other executives in the organization.
•    The Senior Vice President, Operation will lay the groundwork in the first year for ultimately driving several hundred basis points of operating margin improvement.

 

The base pay range for this position will be 300,000 to 400,000 annually. The exact pay will be determined by multiple factors unique to each individual, including years of experience, certifications, and the specific location of the job. Rates may vary in other areas due to differing labor costs.
